Garfield had another wonderful outing at Tahoma, going up against some of the state’s best teams and debating really well. In addition to growth and success as a school, two of our teams advanced to semi-finals. Luke and Stella advanced to semis in the varsity division, clinching their second bid to the state tournament in March. They lost to an Interlake team, but only in a 2-1 decision… they swayed one of the judges to their side. So close to the finals! We’re also incredibly proud of Lucy and Luis, who advanced to novice semis before losing to Kamiak. Great job to everyone!
We have a bit of a break until after the holidays, to sit back and refine our strategy and skills for more tournaments in 2016. The varsity will next travel to Gonzaga, for our first overnight trip, while the novice look forward to their first debates without novice restrictions in Federal Way.
